Food has always been a big part of my life. My earliest memories are centered around food: the smell of my grandma’s house that took on the sautéed garlic and basil she added to her famous marinara; waking up on Sunday morning to the sizzling sound of red-skinned potatoes frying as dad prepared our hearty Irish breakfast; serving ice cream sundaes on hot summer days at my Aunt’s restaurant on the Jersey Shore.
From Sunday suppers to Irish breakfasts, the biggest question always being asked was, “What should we make?” The kitchen was the central place that brought us together. Nothing reaps more benefit, both body and soul, than cooking in the kitchen with loved ones. It helps connects us to our food, one another, and ourselves.
